Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua)

Wild Atlantic Cod are harvested from the clean, cold North Atlantic Ocean. To ensure premium quality our inshore fishers employ proper at-sea handling procedures from the moment the fish is captured until it is landed, so that premium quality is maintained. Our efficient processing ensures maximum fresh and single frozen quality. Atlantic Cod provides a white, mild flavor and firm texture flesh. Cod populations and other ground fish such as Atlantic pollock, Atlantic haddock and Atlantic Hake have been increasing and will generate greater processing opportunities in the future. The majority of our fish are wet salted and sold to distributors or secondary processors for drying. We also custom process and package cod into special fresh and frozen products according to individual customer specifications.

Atlantic Halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus)

Wild Atlantic halibut are captured in the clean, cold North Atlantic Ocean. Our inshore fishers employ proper at-sea handling procedures from the moment the fish is captured until it is landed, so that premium quality can be maintained throughout processing. Our efficient processing ensures maximum single frozen quality. Atlantic halibut are large fish which are ideally suited to steaking and portioning. The prized fish are nutritious, rich in protein and minerals. The moist firm textured flesh has a characteristic flavour and is exceptionally suited to grilling, frying and baking.

Greenland Halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossides)

Greenland halibut (turbot) are harvested in the clean, cold North Atlantic Ocean. Our inshore fishers employ proper at- sea handling procedures from the moment the fish is captured until it is landed, so that premium quality is maintained. Our efficient process ensures maximum single frozen product quality. Greenland halibut are rich in healthy Omega-3 polyunsaturated oils and the characteristic flavour and texture make this fish an important product for our Asian and European customers.

Greenland halibut are processed as HGT (Head and Gut Removed and Tail Off) J-Cut and HOG (Head on Gutted) for reprocessing into steaks and fillets. Turbot can be steamed, grilled or baked and used in a variety of seafood recipes.

Other Groundfish Species

Allen's Fisheries Limited produces limited volumes of ground fish species which are under utilized and by-catch from smaller larger commercial fisheries. These fisheries occur from June-October and the production levels vary annually. Our inshore fishers employ proper at-sea handling procedures from the moment the fish is captured until it is landed, so that premium quality is maintained for each species.

Skate/Ray (Raja radiata)

Product forms include skin on and skinless skate wings, size graded to <300g, 300-500g, 500-1000g and 1000g+. The skate wings are packaged with interleaved poly sheets into 10 and 15kg corrugated cartons. Skate wings are marketed predominantly to Asia and Europe.

Monkfish (Lophius americanus)

Monkfish are processed as whole (stomach in) gutted fish and size graded as <3 kg and 3kg+. The individual fish are packaged with interleaved poly sheets into 20 kg cartons. According to market demand we also produce IQF skin on and skined monkfish tails which are graded as 300g, 300-500g, 500-1kg and lkg+.

Flounder/Sole

Summer Flounder (Paralichthys dentactus), Winter Flounder (Pseudopleuronectes americanus), Yellow Tail Flounder (Limanada ferruginea)

We process flounders/soles into high quality frozen whole round, J-Cut and HGT products. These fish are size graded as <300g, 300-500g, 500-1kg, lkg+ and are air blast frozen in 10 or 15kg cartons.
